Myakka City

Myakka City is in Manatee County in the Sarasota-Bradenton metro area. No big city as the name may sound; Myakka City is a vast area of cattle ranches, citrus groves, forests, rivers and streams. We even have our own winery, Fiorelli Vineyards. The land is beautiful and fertile. Most of Myakka's business comes from cattle, farming and oranges. We do have the best oranges in the country!

Myakka City gets its name from the Mayaca Indian Tribe in Port Mayaca on the eastern shore of Lake Okeechobee. Mayaca was the name the Spanish gave the Native American tribe dating back to the 1560s. Myakka was finally settled in 1850 by a party of cattlemen. There are a few different spellings for Myakka, including Mayaca and Miakka. Miakka was claimed due to what some folks say was because of the poor handwriting by the cattleman who sent in the request to settle the land.

After settling in Myakka, a post office, schools and a church were built. You can still visit the school house in Old Myakka which was a built back in 1916. Families were brought together and a community was formed. To this day, everyone knows everyone and there is a tight presence of a family in Myakka.

If you are looking to buy a home, sell a home or invest in real estate in Myakka City, please give me a call today. My family and I live here and could not imagine living anywhere else.
